0003 - Animated Paint

Context

Following the launch of MEM Season 1, we wanted to explore different animation techniques to bring life and motion to the generative outputs. This is the first time we’re sharing MEMs with any kind of animation. In MEM Season 1, paint is a technique or texture used to humanise artworks, in contrast with the hard metals and polished sheen of materials.

Techniques

To explore how animation could be introduced into MEMs, we looked at the following techniques;

  • Animdiff Workflows with Masks: to help with seamless transitions

  • Various Control Nets: to enhance animation dynamics and details.

  • IP-Adapters: another method for smoother transitions and improved animation quality.
