A Manifesto for Generative Imagination

What would you do if a gateway to freedom was opened before you?

Enter the universe of generative art. Here, the convergence of artistic sensibilities and computational power is unlocking gateways to new territories of expression. As an artist, I explore dimensions previously inaccessible, sculpting my visions with 3D models, code, algorithms, protocols and artificial intelligence. I invite you to prompt your mind to discover the machine and the potential it holds.

The canvas. Once confined to physical spaces, it has expanded into the digital dimension, where human creativity and machine intelligence collaborate. Generative art blurs the thin line between creator, creation and authorship; If one can’t refuse logics, logic may be bent to the service of artistic (r)evolution. As an engineer of creative coding, I set the rules and protocols that bring imagination to life. From Tzara, to Breton, to Duchamp, to Pollock, to Warhol, where do we stand today? My art echoes their pledge and is inscribed within a new paradigm that is unfolding before our eyes.

My art transcends mere outcomes; it delves into the realm of experimentation, where the canvas becomes a laboratory to discover the boundless possibilities of virtuality. Through almost a decade, I have become a technician of my technique, trying and testing, reviewing, and perfecting it. In its process, behind the apparent abstraction of colours, shapes and animation of these computer-enabled imagery, lies an open invitation to a collaborative iteration. The artificial beings generated on the other side of the screen dwell in inverted mirrors, reflecting our human condition and struggle for identity, questioning the very boundaries of what is natural and what is artificial. As an empathic spectator, I stand before their own cosmogony —their symbols, theories, models, myths shaping the way they see the origin and development of their dimension and of ours—, and these very creations reveal points of entry to alternate dimensions.

With a new means of expression, I cannot help but challenge the way the world is organised today. Could human inventions be destroyed, rethought, and redesigned with new meaning? What if, in the midst of our co-creations, you and I and all of us could catch a glimpse of ourselves from an entirely different vantage point, viewing our existence through the eyes of machines that watch us from their own dimension? What if another reality really existed, where the very foundations of our world could be analyzed, dissected, and reshaped? How would this parallel universe challenge the norms we hold so dear, from the smallest fragments of existence to the grand tapestry of society itself? Now you know it. As a citizen in this new universe, I am allowed, encouraged even, to confront established norms.

But it’s not just about creating art, is it? It’s about carving out spaces where the laws of physics can be reimagined and their limits pushed. And I may not have all the answers to the endless enigmas before us. Maybe you do. Yet, isn’t it more about us finding, together, what the next question will be? As a traveller, navigating the intersections of technology, art, and philosophy, I delve into the depths of inquiry, challenging assumptions and embracing the yet-to-be-known.

Traditional art is on the verge of its limit, slowly becoming a church that doesn’t talk about God anymore. As an agent of a rising artistic movement that seeks to constantly evolve, each expression of my art carries a purpose and a message, guided by the machine’s intelligence infused with the soul of human imagination.

My journey is fueled by you — a community that shares my vision and my doubts. Transforming creativity and democratizing artmaking, generative art is defying traditional dynamics and institutions while enabling new artists, collectors, galleries, museums and observers to emerge. If you, too, want to push the boundaries, join me. I can promise no answers and no final destination, but an odyssey to new ways of imagining and creating collectively. It’s worth the try.

My warmest digital regards,
